Original Description:
Müller, J. and F.H. Troschel 1849 Fische (pp. 618-644). Berlin. Reisen British Guiana. [Date is apparently 1849, sometimes seen as 1848.]
The monotypic genus Goeldiella is among the most plesiomorphic members of family Heptapteridae. Goeldiella  eques is wide-ranging in the Amazon, Orinoco and rivers of the Guianas.  In preparing the specimen for scanning air was injected into the unusually wide cephalic sensory canals enabling their visualization in catscan images.
